Japan: TSE listed companies and outside directors

The Tokyo Stock Exchange has published data concerning the appointment of outside directors at listed companies: see here (pdf). It is reported that 62.3% of First Section listed companies have one or more outside director.

Japan: independent directors on TOPIX500 company boards

The Tokyo Stock Exchange has published the results of its survey of the number of independent directors on TOPIX500 company boards: see here. The survey found that over 70% of companies had at least one independent director.

The Codes and Principles Directory maintained by the European Corporate Governance Institute has been updated to include a copy of the Principles of Corporate Governance for Listed Companies published by the Tokyo Stock Exchange: see here.
