The
European Commission published a Communication yesterday on the long-term financing of the European economy: see
here (
pdf). This contains a section on corporate governance in which the Commission said that it would consider the following proposals:
- A revision of the Shareholder Rights Directive in order to "to better align long-term interests of institutional investors, asset managers and companies".
- The introduction of a Recommendation to improve the quality of corporate governance reporting.
