The European Commission has published a proposal for a Regulation to amend Regulation (EC) No 1060/2009 on credit rating agencies: see here (pdf). The purpose of the Regulation is to give the new European supervisory authority - the European Securities and Markets Authority (about which see here) - exclusive supervisory powers over credit rating agencies registered in the European Union. Europe: the supervision of credit rating agencies
