The Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Regulated Activities) (Amendment) (No. 2) Order 2017 was laid before Parliament today and comes into force on 3 January 2018: see here or here (pdf). The purpose of the Order is - to quote directly from the accompanying explanatory memorandum (here, pdf) - "to allow regulated firms to provide more help and guidance to their customers without inadvertently crossing the boundary into regulated financial advice".
