The Companies Bill 2016,
drafts of which were published for consultation last year, became law (as the Companies Ordinance 2016: see
here,
pdf) late last year when it was promulgated by the
President in the exercise of a power provided by
Article 89 of the Constitution. However, the Ordinance was repealed by a vote in the
Senate in December (see
here,
pdf) and the Bill subsequently introduced in the
National Assembly. A sub-committee of the National Assembly has been considering the Bill this month and has made various amendments: see
here (
pdf).
