A joint consultation paper, from the
Cabinet Office and
Charity Commission, seeks views on the introduction of a process to permit community interest companies and charities formed as companies limited by guarantee to convert into a
charitable incorporated organisation (CIO): see
here. The CIO legal form was introduced in 2013 and, since then, over 6,500 have been registered with the
Charity Commission.
