A draft of the Deregulation Bill, including explanatory notes, was published yesterday: see
here (
pdf). The Bill is wide-ranging and includes amendments to the
Insolvency Act 1986 and
Companies Act 2006. For example, there are provisions to amend the notification requirements (under
Chapter 4, Part 16 of the
2006 Act) that apply where an auditor ceases to hold office. The Bill also corrects a drafting error in
sections 327 and
330 of the 2006 Act with regard to the notice provisions for appointing a proxy or terminating a proxy's authority. Changes to the 1986 Act include the introduction of a revised authorisation regime for insolvency practitioners.
