Baroness Hogg, the chairman of the
Financial Reporting Council, spoke yesterday at the
NAPF conference. A video recording of the speech, and other conference speeches, is available
here. Baroness Hogg took the opportunity to provide an update regarding the
UK Stewardship Code. There had been, she noted, 147 signatories to the Code, including some from outside of the UK, and the concept of stewardship was being considered at the European level by
EFAMA and globally by the
OECD. Baroness Hogg also noted that the FRC had been working to promote the code with overseas investors as well as with sovereign wealth funds. Internationalisation of the debate, she observed, was important.
