The
Coroners and Justice Bill received
Royal Assent last week. A copy of the Act will be available
here shortly. Section 109 of the Act amends
Section 71(4) of the
Serious Organised Crime and Police Act (2005) by the insertion of the following as specified prosecutors: [a] the
Financial Services Authority and [b] the
Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, acting personally. The effect of this amendment is to give the FSA and Secretary of State the power to grant individuals - e.g., those assisting in criminal cases - immunity from prosecution.
