The Companies’ Remuneration Reports Bill, which was introduced by Lord Gavron in the House of Lords last December, has received its first reading in the House of Commons. The Bill's second reading is scheduled for this coming Friday, 6 November, but it seems likely that the House will not sit on this day. The Parliamentary timetable is such that the Bill will not become law. Prorogation takes place on 12 November and a new session of Parliament begins on 18 November with the State Opening of Parliament and the Queen's Speech. The Bill cannot be carried forward and would have to be reintroduced in the new session.
