
Earlier this year the
Crown Prosecution Service announced that a company - Cotswold Geotechnical Holdings Ltd. (CGH) - had become the first to face the charge of corporate manslaughter under the
Corporate Manslaughter and Homicide Act 2007. In an article titled
"Corporate manslaughter: making work a much safer place", which appeared in yesterday's
Times newspaper,
Professor Gary Slapper noted that the trial of CGH will begin next week at
Stroud Magistrates' Court.
